Kean as Hamlet
The son of the Great Kean, Charles Kean (1811-1868) became a renowned actor and director in his own right. For some of the scenes Shakespeare never wrote, Kean invented the triumphant return to London after Agincourt. He gathered 600 people on stage for that one scene. The part of the Chorus he gave to his wife, thus comparing the role to Clio, the Muse of History (according to "Conjuring Shakespeare").
